Student ID

Student ID cards are administered at both Budapest campuses by the staff responsible for the respective campus.

Student ID cards issued to full-time and part-time (correspondence) students entitle the holder to travel discounts.

A part-time (correspondence) student ID card entitles the holder to travel discounts only between their place of residence and the educational institution.

No travel discounts are available with a student ID card issued to distance-learning students.

In the event that the student’s legal student status is terminated, the student ID card must be returned to the university for destruction.

A student ID card can only be applied for and validated if the student has active student status.

Application Procedure

  • Register for the NEK (National Unified Card System) data form at a government document office (Kormányablak) and obtain a NEK identification number.
(The NEK identification number can be obtained free of charge at any government document office/Kormányablak.)
  • A valid identity card, passport or driving licence, together with a proof of address card, is required for registration.
  • A new NEK identification number must be obtained in the event of a change in personal data or after the validity period of the photograph and signature has expired.
  • Enter the address(es) indicated on your proof of address card into the Neptun system.

IMPORTANT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:
International students must enter their permanent home address abroad in the Neptun system in order to be able to apply for a student ID card. The foreign permanent address must be recorded in Neptun before submitting the student ID card application.

  • In the Neptun system, go to Administration / Student ID Card Application and submit your application.
(A NEK identification number is required. When entering the NEK identification number, omit the hyphens.)
  • Since the student ID card has been free of charge since 1 January 2016, no payment obligation is generated in the Neptun system for applications submitted since that date.
  • The university forwards the submitted application electronically through the FIR system to the card manufacturer for production.
  • The production status of the student ID card can be tracked.
  • Once completed, the student ID card is sent to the university in accordance with the relevant government regulation.
  • The staff member responsible for student administration at the relevant campus will notify the student when the student ID card has arrived and can be collected.

Tracking the Production of the Student ID Card

The production process can be tracked on the igenyles.diakigazolvany.hu website.

It can also be tracked in the Neptun system under Information → Queries/Information → Live Applications. The query becomes available in the student’s Neptun interface on the day following submission of the application.

The current status of the application can be monitored on the platform until the student ID card has been produced.

If you notice any error in your application, please contact the person responsible for student ID cards at your respective campus.

Submitted student ID card applications are cross-checked against the official personal and address registers. Only applications containing data that exactly matches the registered records are forwarded for production.

To ensure smooth and error-free administration, all students concerned are requested to provide their personal data and address(es) accurately and to carefully check the information entered in the system.

Validation

The student ID card is validated for each semester using holographic validation stickers, which can be collected from the designated administrators.

The stickers can generally be collected from approximately the 6th working week of each semester. The exact date will be announced in the current news at the beginning of each semester.

Collection of the sticker must always be confirmed by signature. The sticker can only be handed over after it has been affixed to the student ID card.

Validation stickers are only issued to students with active student status. No sticker is issued for a passive semester.

Temporary Student ID Certificate

A temporary student ID certificate may be requested together with the application for a permanent student ID card and can be used until the permanent student ID card arrives.

The temporary certificate is valid for a maximum of 60 days.

After its expiry, a new temporary certificate may only be requested if this is necessary due to a production error affecting the permanent student ID card.
